Wild Earth Dog Food

Today I am reviewing Wild Earth dog food.  It touts itself as being healthier for dogs with 31% protein, but with yeast being the #1 ingredient instead of meat.  They state that it’s healthier for dogs, and better for the planet.  It is veterinarian made.  It also has a zero amount of “junk” in it.  They also sell dog snacks.

Pros

Wild Earth claims that this dog food, with no meat, has no allergies, shinier coat, and healthier weight.  It reduces green house gases; 25%-30% of green house gas comes from farming. Dogs and wolves are actually omnivores, so as long as it has the protein in it (31%), it will still be good for your dog.

Wild Earth states that yeast (fungi) is a great source of protein.  From an independent source, Wild Earth scores a 9 out of 10 overall. Another source puts it at 4.4 out of 5.  It is also good for anybody that is concerned about climate change. It comes in an 18 lb bag and has chick peas, oats, pumpkin, spinach, and sweet potato.  There is no cruelty to animals.

It also has no fillers and no by-products.  There is no corn, soy, or rice in it.  There are no color, flavors, or preservatives in it, which of course is good for their health.  They have a full refund policy, and you save $20 if you subscribe to get Wild Earth each month.  The list of ingredients is easy to read and understand.

It is also good for a dog’s breath.  Some customers state it makes their dogs appear younger.  It is 43.5% carbs, which is normal for a dry health dog food.

Cons

The price is quite high for the size of the bag.  It costs $72 for an 18 lb bag.  One customer said their dog wouldn’t eat it.  Another stated the it has ingredients can cause cardiac disease.  Another said their dog’s liver enzymes were raised due to too much crude protein.  One other concern was that a vegan diet is not natural for a dog.

What We Have Learned

All in all, Wild Earth is a good healthy source of protein with no junk and healthy ingredients.  Its ratings by most customers are good.  Also keep in mind the health concerns, because apparently the dog food may not be healthy for a small percentage of dogs.  However, the same could be said of many dog foods.  If you would like to try this alternative eco-friendly, healthy food, click for Wild Earth!

  1. Hello!

Okay so am I going to have to say it? $72 for an 18lb bag is way too much! I can literally add it into my grocery budget and make my own dog food AND they would eat it!

Aside from the fact that it does have way too much carbs and they can develop other health problems (depending on the dog), there is just no way I could spend that amount on something with so many cons.

Thank you for the great read!

    • I thought I may get this type of response, but I have to be honest on these posts.  They can be some serious cons if your one of the few dogs that this food could cause a problem for.  Also, yes it could be cheaper.  My understanding is that it was substantially less than this.  They may have overextended themselves on the price.  Thank you for your comments, and your honesty.  Have a good day!
